1. What
skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you
think you have applied them?
I think I have developed a number of skills
throughout this module. Firstly I feel that my analytical skills have
developed no end. I feel more confident when writing critically. I have
learnt to use triangulation effectively with in an essay in order to provide
a detailed level of analysis backed up with a number of sources. I think I
have also learnt the importance of synthesis between the essay and
practical component of this module. I feel that I have been able to develop
a strong concept due to my understanding and interest in the topic of my
essay. I think my time management skills have strengthened with in this
module I have challenged my self to keep on top of the workload as well as
keeping up to date with documenting my progress through the use of my blog.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production
have you developed and how have they informed your design development
process?
I have tried a number of different methods of design
production throughout this module. Creating synthesis was paramount for
this module. I have looked in to different ways of presenting the arguments
for and against consumerism as seen in my design work. I looked in to
different formats and layouts in order to display the contrasting
information. I used colour as an important tool to show the differentiation
between ideas use black and white to make a strong, bold eye catching
statement.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and
how have/will you capitalise on these?
I feel that my design development skills have been a
particular strength throughout this module. I have tried a number of
different processes and techniques in order to produce the highest level of
final design that I can. I plan to capitalise on this through the use of
mock-ups and print tests prior to creating the final resolution. Another
strength was my ability to pick an appropriate topic for the practical side
of the module in order to create a strong sense of synthesis.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and
how will you address these in the future?
I think a weakness in my work is the essay
component, although I feel that I have improved in my critical writing
skills I still have a way to go. I also think reading a wider range of
material to provide a larger number of sources could have improved
arguments with in my essay. I feel that my time management has been varied
throughout this module. At the start of the year I had lots of motivation
and managed to keep up with all the tasks set and attended all seminars and
lectures, however as the year went on I feel my motivation dipped due to
the number of other modules and work load on the course, As a consequence I
struggled to make time for the essay component, so I feel this is not
resolved as it could be. In future to fix this I need to compartmentalise
my time to better effect and plan out specific periods of time that I can
devote to certain projects.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently
next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
Improve time management- Next time I hope to further
improve my time management skills in order to keep my motivation levels up.
Improve Blogging- I plan to improve blogging and
keeping up to date with it. This will help me to show better documentation
of my progression throughout the module.
Conducting crits- Next time I plan to conduct more
crits for my design work. This will help me to gain feedback on my design strengths
and weaknesses.
More source material- To improve my essays in future
I will make sure I read a wide range of sources to gain lots of different
view points and arguments, this will also help improve my triangulation throughout
the essay.

The evaluation of your work is an important part of
the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It
is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written
evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If
you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a
member of staff as soon as possible.
